Monroe County Board of County Commissioners met June 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The emergency meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Illinois was called to order at 11:35 a.m. Chairman Robert Elmore, Commissioner Vicki Koerber and Commissioner Ron Schultheis were present.

Others present included County Clerk Jonathan McLean, Sheila Wetzler, Sheriff Neal Rohlfing, Assessor Carl Wuertz, Kevin Scheibe, along with Press Corps representatives Alan Dooley of the Waterloo Republic Times and Ed Wienhoff of the Monroe County Independent. Also, present was Edwin McLean.

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll call was taken by County Clerk Jonathan McLean. There being a quorum present, the meeting was called to order by Chairman Elmore.

Chairman Elmore asked for public comment. There was no public comment.

Chairman Elmore acknowledged that today was the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

A proclamation of disaster was presented to the Board for approval. A motion to approve was made by Commissioner Koerber. Second by Commissioner Schultheis. All voting Aye. None Nay. None Absent. Motion carried.

Kevin Scheibe came before the Board to discuss the adoption the 2019 Emergency Flood Limitation Plan. Mr. Scheibe said that the levees are secure but the county should have a contingency plan in place in the event there is a breach in the north end of the Columbia Levee. A motion was made by Commissioner Koerber to approve. Second by Commissioner Schultheis. All voting Aye. None Nay. None Absent. Motion carried. Resolution was recorded as #19-66.

Chairman Elmore acknowledged Katie Main who is a representative of Congressman Mike Bost. Mrs. Main said the county should not hesitate to contact her if the congressman can be of assistance.

There being no further business to come before the Board, motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Schultheis. Second by Commissioner Koerber. All voting Aye. None Nay. None Absent. Motion carried.
