City of Red Bud Public Works Committee met June 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Committee Members Present: Curt Guebert, Kyle Donjon, Bill Hanebutt, Clem Esker, Mike Rheinecker

Committee Members Absent:

Council Members Present: Jeremy DeMond, David Friess, Susan Harbaugh

Others Present: City Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Others Present: Mayor Tim Lowry

Committee Chairman Guebert called the meeting to order at 7:15 P.M.

Old Business

I. Power Plant

A. Plant Report

Eckart reported that Urge, Rice Neshap testing will be done Tuesday and Wednesday.

II. Utilities/Streets

A. Electric - Underground & Structure Replacement Project

Linda Tragesser is doing the environmental review, which went out to seven Indian tribes. They have thirty days to respond and nothing can move forward until all the required paperwork is completed. Tragesser is changing $75/hour.

B. Gas – MRT Rate Case Update

FERC has sent a proposed settlement to MRT. They incorporated almost all the things the small customers wanted. Negotiations are ongoing.

MRT has not accepted the open season request which the city offered, because they do not feel it is of any value. CenterPoint does not feel like there will be a problem with the east line.

C. Water – Water Line Replacements

Vices Bar is doing some remodeling and adding a kitchen. The EPA will be requiring some service line replacements of the lead pipes. Eckart is working with Vices, so they are aware of what their responsibilities will be.

D. Sewer

Eckart is getting some repair pricing.

E. Streets No update

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting May 20, 2019

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve the minutes from the May 20, 2019 meeting. Carried

II. Training Request – ICC Small Operator Gas Pipeline Safety Conference – Josh Eckart, Kenny Langrehr, Steve Mertz and Clint Crafton

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Esker, to approve authorization to send Josh Eckart, Kenny Langrehr, Steve Mertz and Clint Crafton to training entitled “2019 Small Operator Gas Pipeline Safety Conference” on August 28 & 29, 2019 in Marion, with a $60/each registration fee. Transportation is required. Carried

III. Authorization to Advertise for Bids for Mini Excavator

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Rheinecker, to approve authorization to advertise for bids for a mini excavator. Carried

IV. Equipment Replacement – Demolition Hammer Drill (Street Department)

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt to approve authorization to purchase a replacement demolition hammer drill, NTE $1,000. Carried

V. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

Eckart reported that he is looking at stocking some larger gas meters. Harbaugh noted that the gas fund still owes the capital fund account $115,000.

Eckart said that he will have an item on the council agenda for Davey Tree to trim the downtown tree at a cost of $900, to be done before the fireman’s picnic.

Donjon questioned if inventory is still be done. Eckart stated that inventory is taken every January/February.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:39 P.M.
