Sparta Community Unit School District #140 Board of Education met Nov. 5.

The special meeting was called to order at 4:35 p.m. by President Corey Rheinecker and upon the roll being called, Corey Rheinecker and the following members of the Board of Education answered present: Angela Craig, Kevin Holliday, Kenneth Kempfer, Jennifer Morgan and Alan Young. Absent: Howard Gallois. Others present were: Superintendent Dr. Gabrielle Schwemmer and Recording Secretary Tina Witherby.
Mr. Gallois entered the meeting at 4:46 p.m.
Angela Craig moved, Howard Gallois seconded to ratify the three-year contract with the Sparta Education Association. Roll call vote. Yeas: Craig, Gallois, Holliday and Morgan. Nays: Kempfer and Young. Abstain: Rheinecker. Motion carried.
Angela Craig moved, Jennifer Morgan seconded to approve the addition of a Links Club at Sparta Lincoln School contingent upon no cost to the district. Roll call vote. Yeas: Craig, Morgan, Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, Young and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Howard Gallois moved, Jennifer Morgan seconded to approve the Links overnight retreat to Marion, Illinois, on November 22-23, 2019. Roll call vote. Yeas: Gallois, Morgan, Holliday, Kempfer, Young, Craig and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Angela Craig moved, Jennifer Morgan seconded to adjourn the meeting at 5:06 p.m. Roll call vote: Yeas: Craig, Morgan, Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, Young and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
