City of Waterloo City Council met January 6

City of Waterloo City Council met Jan. 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smith at 7:30 p.m.

2. The following Aldermen were present: Notheisen, Thomas, Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Row and Heller. Alderman Hopkins was absent.

3. Pledge of Allegiance by Mayor Tom Smith.

4. Correction or Withdrawal of Agenda Items by Sponsor. None.

5. Approval of Minutes as Written or Amended.

A. Motion for approval of 12-04-19 Special City Council Meeting Minutes made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Heller. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, and Trantham voting yea.

B. Motion for approval of 12-16-19 Public Hearing Meeting Minutes made by Alderman Row and seconded by Alderman Heller. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Trantham, Darter and Buettner voting yea.

C. Motion for approval of 12-16-19 Regular City Council Meeting Minutes made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Row. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas and Trantham voting yea.

6. Petitions by Citizens on Non-Agenda Items. Mr. Aycock, of 28 Victor Street, stated he received an unusual increase in his water bill. Alderman Darter scheduled a meeting with him for Monday, 01/13/2020 @ 5 p.m.

7. Reports and Communications from the Mayor and other City Officers.

A. Report of Collector. No report.

B. Report of Treasurer. No report.

C. Report of Subdivision and Zoning Administrator. No report.

D. Report of Director of Public Works. No report.

E. Report of Chief of Police.

Chief Prosise gave upcoming training dates of 01-07-20 and 01-08-20 for the Domestic Violence Program to be held at the Morrison Talbot Library.

F. Report of City Attorney. No report. Attorney Hayes was absent.

G. Report and Communication by Mayor.

Mayor Smith and Alderman Trantham attended the Hecker kickoff celebration for its 125th year of incorporation on Saturday at the Hecker Community Center.

8. Report of Standing Committees.

Alderman Notheisen stated himself, Mayor Smith and Tim Birk will determine the gas prices in the future.

9. Report of Special Committees. No report.

10. Presentation of Communications, Petitions, Resolutions, Orders and Ordinances by Aldermen. None

11. Unfinished Business. None

12. Miscellaneous Business.

A. Consideration and Action on Warrant No. 585.

Motion made by Alderman Heller and seconded by Alderman Buettner to approve Warrant No. 585. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Trantham, Darter, Buettner and Row voting yea.

B. Consideration and Action on Special Event Permit Application from Waterloo Citizens for a Pool to hold their 3rd Annual St. Paddy’s Day 5K on March 14, 2020 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Downtown Waterloo to include the temporary closure of East Third Street adjacent to the Monroe County Courthouse at the beginning and end of the event.

Motion made by Alderman Buettner and seconded by Alderman Thomas to approve a Special Event Permit Application from Waterloo Citizens for a Pool to hold their 3rd Annual St Paddy’s Day 5K on March 14, 2020 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Downtown Waterloo to include the temporary closure of East Third Street adjacent to the Monroe County Courthouse at the beginning and end of the event. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Trantham and Darter voting yea.

13. Discussion of Matters by Council Members Arising After Agenda Deadline.

Alderman Heller requested a Planning Committee Meeting and will decide on the exact date later.

14. Motion to Adjourn made by Alderman Notheisen and seconded by Alderman Buettner. Motion passed with unanimous voice vote. Mayor Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
