Steeleville Community Unit District No. 138 Board of Education met Nov. 18.

Others Present: Stephanie Mulholland, Jennifer Haertling, Travis Lott and Kylie Mueller.

1. Lisa Ernsting moved to approve the following consent agenda items as presented by Superintendent, Stephanie Mulholland. Amy Young seconded the motion.

A. Approve Board Minutes of Regular Meeting

B. Approve Itemized Bills for Current Month

C. Approve Estimated Payroll

D. Accept Letter of Resignation of Heidi Smith as High School Cheerleading Coach.

E. Conduct 1st Reading of Policy Changes.

F. Approve Aaron Hood as Volunteer High School Boys’ Basketball Assistant Coach

2. Visitors – None

3. No teachers were in attendance to give curriculum reports.

4. A. Lisa Ernsting moved to approve the bid for the High School Door Replacement Project at the High School from Samron Midwest Consulting for $362,291.20. Jim Mevert seconded the motion.

A Roll Call vote was taken: Ernsting – Aye; Mevert – Aye; Frederking – Aye; Jeffers – Absent; Smith – Absent; Young – Aye; Mitchell – Aye.

Motion Carried: 5– Aye, 0- Nay, 2 – Absent

B. Amy Young moved to set the Truth in Taxation Hearing for the 2019 Proposed Tax Levy to be held on December 16, 2019. Lisa Ernsting seconded the motion.

A Roll Call vote was taken: Young – Aye; Ernsting – Aye; Frederking – Aye; Jeffers – Absent; Mevert – Aye; Smith – Absent; Mitchell – Aye.

Motion Carried: 5-Aye, 0 –Nay, 2 –Absent

C. Jim Mevert moved to approve the revised hourly employee rate schedules. Fred Frederking seconded the motion.

D. Lisa Ernsting moved to hire Tim Yates as the Grade School Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach. Jim Mevert seconded the motion.

E. Jim Mevert moved to approve Torrey Gerberding as the High School Volunteer Girls’ Basketball Coach. Lisa Ernsting seconded the motion.

F. Lisa Ernsting moved to approve Rachel Reuss as the High School Cheerleading Coach. Fred Frederking seconded the motion.

5. Informational Items on the Agenda

A. Budget Summary, Cash Fund Balances, Activity Fund Balances B. Assistant Superintendent’s Report

1. Mrs. Haertling reported that midterm grades would be sent the following week for those students who had D’s and F’s. Semester Exams will be on December 18th, 19th and 20th.

2. The Girls’ Basketball Team has 11 members and the Boys’ Basketball Team has 19 members and will play a full freshmen schedule.

3. Bowling has started and will have a full boys’ team with 9 bowlers and possibly 3 girls. The girls will compete as individuals in the post season as there is not enough for a team score.

4. Mrs. Haertling reported that she is still serving on the IHSA Legislative Commission. It requires two Monday meetings in Bloomington and attendance at a town hall meeting in Southern Illinois. She attended a meeting in Bloomington on November 11th and will travel to Bloomington again on November 25th. The required Principal Town Meeting is Monday, November 18h.

5. The Blue and White Night was held Thursday, November 14th and went very well. There was soup supper, auction, introduction of Junior High players and games played by the high school players.

6. Mrs. Haertling received an email from Heidi Smith indicating her resignation from cheerleading due to a pending move to Wisconsin for a new job. English Teach, Rachael Reuss has agreed to step in and be the cheerleading coach.

7. Mrs. Haertling will contact the policy committee regarding a meeting before the December board meeting.

8. The Homecoming Dance was held on Saturday, November 16th and went well.

6. Amy Young moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 p.m. Jim Mevert seconded the motion. A voice vote was taken: 5 – Aye, 0 – Nay, 2 – Absent
