Q2 2019 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Perry County?

There were 11 offenders released on parole during the second quarter of 2019 that live in Perry County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by SW Illinois News.

The data shows that six men and five women were released in Perry County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 38. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old woman sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2018, and the oldest was a 65-year-old man sentenced for a sex crime in 2006.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Shaun Burts. He was convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2015 when he was 32 years old. He is now 37.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the second quarter of 2019 in each Perry County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
