City of Chester City Council met Feb. 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

I.CALL TO ORDER

The City Council of Chester, Illinois, met in regular session in the Municipal Building, 1330 Swanwick Street. Mayor Tom Page called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

II.ROLL CALL

Present:Alderman Ray                     Allison Alderman Randy Dudenbostel

Alderman Robert Platt                     Alderman Russ Rader

Alderman Dan Ohlau                       Alderman D. Michael Blechle

Alderman James D. Maes               Alderman Daniel Geisen

Absent: None

III.PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

IV.READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

Alderman Ohlau moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting and to approve them as prepared by the city clerk. Alderman Geisen seconded the motion. UPON ROLL CALL: Ayes: Aldermen Ohlau, Geisen Platt, Rader, Maes, Allison, Blechle, Dudenbostel. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

V.CORRESPONDENCE

The following correspondence was acknowledged:

•Chester Chamber of Commerce Luncheon event on February 18th

•Letter from Mayor Page regarding an upcoming candy hand out provided by First Baptist Church

•February’s Tax Revenue Report provided by City Clerk Berner

VII.COMMITTEE REPORTS

City Clerk:

The city clerk presented an application for raffle licenses for the Chester Boat Club. Alderman Geisen moved to issue the raffle license and waive the fidelity bond required of the raffle managers. Alderman Allison seconded the motion. UPON ROLL CALL: Ayes: Aldermen Platt, Geisen, Dudenbostel, Rader, Maes, Ohlau, Allison, Blechle. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

Cemetery & Finance Committee (Chairman Platt):

The Cemetery and Finance Committee met this evening at 5:30 p.m. to review city bills, and found them to be in order for payment. Alderman Platt moved to approve payment of bills, subject to audit. Alderman Rader seconded the motion. UPON ROLL CALL: Ayes: Aldermen Platt, Geisen, Dudenbostel, Rader, Maes, Ohlau, Allison, Blechle. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

Sewer Department – Advertise for Employment:

Mayor Page advised that an opening in the sewer department will exist on February 19th due to a recent resignation. Alderman Ohlau moved to advertise for employment for the sewer department. Alderman Rader seconded the motion. UPON ROLL CALL: Ayes: Aldermen Platt, Geisen, Dudenbostel, Rader, Maes, Ohlau, Allison, Blechle. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

Cohen Fields – Topdressing for Fields:

Park Superintendent Billy Belton presented a quote from Advanced Turf Solutions for topdressing for the Cohen ball fields totaling $12,645.16. Superintendent Belton noted the topdressing will be purchased in bulk and will last for two years. Alderman Platt voiced concern about the purchase exceeding the amount budgeted for the fiscal year. Alderman Blechle moved to approve the bulk purchase of topdressing from Advanced Turf Solution for $12,645.16. Alderman Dudenbostel seconded the motion. UPON ROLL CALL: Ayes: Aldermen Platt, Geisen, Dudenbostel, Rader, Maes, Ohlau, Allison, Blechle. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

XII.ADJOURNMENT

At 6:12 p.m., Alderman Ohlau moved to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Dudenbostel seconded the motion. VOTE: Ayes: Aldermen Ohlau, Dudenbostel, Platt, Maes, Rader, Allison, Geisen, Blechle. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
