SEARBY FUNERAL HOME: Earl Nelson Lee

Searby Funeral Home recently issued the following announcement.

Earl Nelson Lee, 77, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:05 A.M., Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at his residence.

Earl had worked as a janitor at the Perry County Courthouse. He also worked at General Henry Baking in Du Quoin and as a janitor for Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin. He was a member of the Matthews Baptist Church.

He was born December 20, 1942 at Tamaroa, IL, the son of Elmer and Lula (Rowland) Lee.

He married Phyllis L. Scronce on August 13, 1960 at Nashville, IL and she preceded him in death on September 25, 2007.

He is survived by four sons - Kenneth Lee and wife Kimbra of Campbell Hill, Matthew Lee and wife Teresa of Du Quoin, Philip Lee and wife Nancy of Du Quoin, and Richard Lee and wife Karla of Du Quoin, one daughter - Bobbie Ruffino of West Frankfort, one brother - Ray Lee of Independence, MO, two sisters - Helen Ware of Du Quoin and Mary Jane Phillips of Union City, TN, eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother - James Lee and one sister - Linda Lee.

Per Earl’s request, cremation rites were conducted.

A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements.
