Waterloo Community Unit School District No. 5 Board of Education met June 15.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

I. Roll Call, Opening Comments.

II. Executive session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. [5 ILCS120/2(c)(1)]

III. Pledge of Allegiance, Comments.

IV. Consent Agenda.

A. Consideration to approve the minutes of the May 18, 2020 regular board meeting.

B. Consideration to approve the executive session minutes of the May 18, 2020 regular board meeting.

C. Consideration to adopt and continue with the district-wide Section 125 Plan Document(s) 501/502, as administered by American Fidelity Assurance Company; and further, to remain in compliance with the Internal Revenue Service regulations.

D. Consideration to designate First National Bank and State Bank of Waterloo, Illinois; and the Illinois School District Liquid Asset Fund Plus as depositories of District Funds.

E. Consideration to approve the renewal of membership in the Illinois Association of School Boards with respective payment, for 2020-2021 school year annual dues.

F. Consideration to award the following bids according to the bid specifications and in the best interest of the school district: copier paper to Contract Paper Group Inc., 1013 Portage Trail Suite 2, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 in the amount of $27,065.05; toilet tissue, roll, and multi-paper towels to Royal Papers, Inc, 2701 Hereford St, St. Louis, MO 63139 in the amount of $13,329.75; and trash services to Reliable Sanitation Service Inc., 601 S. Market, Waterloo, IL 62298 in the amount of $18,254.10, with alternate recycled bid at $4,347.00 for one time per week, totaling $22,601.10, effective for the 2020-2021 school year.

G. Consideration to approve the district student cafeteria prices, effective for the 2020-2021 school year.

H. Consideration to employ Jason Meyer as a full-time custodian, for the 2019-2020 school year, effective June 16, 2020, contingent upon the results of a background check and TB test.

I. Consideration to employ Corrinne Deterding as a full-time custodian, for the 2019-2020 school year, effective June 16, 2020.

J. Consideration to accept a letter of resignation, dated May 29, 2020, from Deron Duncan, special education teacher, effective at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

K. Consideration to accept an irrevocable letter of retirement, dated May 21, 2020, from Lisa Storm, in accordance with the contract Agreement Between the Board of Education of Waterloo Community Unit School District No. 5 and the Waterloo Classroom Teachers' Association (W.C.T.A.), as stated in Article IX, Section 9.10, Severance Incentive, effective at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.

L. Consideration to accept an irrevocable letter of retirement, dated May 26, 2020, from Leah Ziegler, in accordance with the contract Agreement Between the Board of Education of Waterloo Community Unit School District No. 5 and the Waterloo Classroom Teachers' Association (W.C.T.A.), as stated in Article IX, Section 9.10, Severance Incentive, effective at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.

V. Motion to accept the treasurer's report, student activity reports, and to authorize investments.

A. Consideration to approve the 2019-2020 Final Official School Calendar starting on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 and ending on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 with using four (4) emergency days on November 12, 2019, December 16, 2019, December 17, 2019, and January 17, 2020.

B. Consideration to approve the extra-duty assignments, effective for the 2019-2020 school year as per recommendation from the District Athletic Director, Mitch North, and administration.

C. Consideration to approve the extra-duty assignments, effective for the 2020-2021 school year as per recommendation from the District Athletic Director, Mitch North, and administration, contingent upon the results of background checks and TB tests.

X. New Business.

A. Consideration to approve the purchase and payment of three 2020 Ford Fusion Driver's Education vehicles, not to exceed $20,644.99, $20,844.99, and $20,977.44 each, for a total of $62,467.42.

B. Consideration to authorize the Superintendent to enter into a contract with Neff Flooring, for carpet replacement in the Waterloo Junior High School.

C. Consideration to approve a one-year contract, as presented, for Willey Hulett, Director of Buildings and Grounds, effective July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021.

D. Consideration to approve the volunteer list, effective for the 2020-2021 school year as per recommendation from the District Athletic Director, Mitch North, and Administration.
