Columbia Community Unit District No. 4 Board of Education met May 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

I. Call to Order/Roll Call 

President Middelkamp called the special meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. 

II. Welcome Visitor(s) 

Visitor(s) present: Scott P. Hardwick of Trane U.S. Inc., Ryan Steinbach of Tremco, and Tim Kwiatkowski of FGM Architects.

III. Public Comments/Correspondence

There were no public comments. 

Discussion was held regarding changes to the high school roof project. Trane furnished the board with three alternatives. Ryan Steinbach of Tremco explained the repair options to the section of roof that was performed by Tremco. If the district chooses to have Tremco repair said section, it would go back under warranty for five more years. Tremco would also be responsible for any problems and maintenance issues at no cost to the District during the warranty period.

Greg Meyer entered the meeting at 6:15 p.m.

IV. Items For Action

Motion to Approve Roof Repair Warranty Extension With Tremco

a. Motion was made by Greg Meyer, seconded by Tammy Hines to approve high and school roof repair and warranty extension with Tremco in the amount of $11,105.91, pending scan and repairs not to exceed $6,500.00.

On a roll call vote: 

Anderson-Aye, Hines-Aye, Long-Aye, Meyer-Aye, Middelkamp-Aye, O’Connor-Aye, Schumacher-Aye. 

The motion carried, 7-Aye, 0-Absent, 0-Nay

Motion to Approve Trane Contract Amendment 1A To the High School Roof

b. Motion was made by Karen Anderson, seconded by Lisa Schumacher to approve Contract Amendment 1A (high school roof sections 1, 4, and 10) with Trane to amend the contract price of $2,840,800 by an increase of $407,061 for a total revised contract price of $3,247,861, which includes HVAC at the high school and middle school, and boiler repair at the middle school.

On a roll call vote: 

Hines-Aye, Long-Aye, Meyer-Aye, Middelkamp-Aye, O’Connor-Aye, Schumacher-Aye, Anderson-Aye. 

The motion carried, 7-Aye, 0-Absent, 0-Nay

Karen Anderson informed the board that she attended the IASB Southwestern District virtual meeting recently. At the meeting the Joint Annual Conference was discussed. The conference is always held in Chicago in November. The IASB is anticipating that there will be no conference this year due to COVID-19. More information will be coming in the near future.

V. Adjourn - 6:30 p.m.

With no further business to come before the Board, it was moved by Tammy Hines seconded by John Long, to adjourn the meeting.
