The meeting was called to order at 11am by Chairman Notheisen. There were petitions by citizens.
Alderman Notheisen, Tim Birk and Dan Hayes brought everyone up to date on the results of the MRT rate case that had been settled. Waterloo will be receiving a refund of $318,985. CenterPoint Energy will be utilizing the credit against our billings in the upcoming months. Shawn brought to our attention that CenterPoint credited the April bill for $53,514.95 after the April fuel adjustment was calculated and billed to customers.
The committee discussed how best to apply this credit to benefit our customers. Alderman Heller made the motion, seconded by Trantham, to apply the credit to the November billing (to be paid in January) so that our customers will enjoy the savings to offset their Christmas expenses. The motion carried 5-0.
Chairman Notheisen started a conversation about reducing the excess cash in the Gas Fund. The conversation had no resolution.
Alderman Thomas made the motion, seconded by Heller, to adjourn. Motion passed 5-0.
