Sparta home prices rise in the first half of 2018

The median sale price of a home sold in the first half of 2018 in Sparta rose by $15,250 while total sales decreased by 31.8%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through June of 2018, there were 15 homes sold, with a median sale price of $79,000 - a 23.9% increase over the $63,750 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 22 homes sold in Sparta in the first half of 2017.

The median sales tax in Sparta for 2018 was $1,346. In 2017, the median sales tax was $1,212. This marks an increase of 11.1%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.7%.
