City of Waterloo Downtown Beautification Committee Met August 3

City of Waterloo Downtown Beautification Committee met Aug. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Attendance : Aldermen Trantham, Thomas, Notheisen, Darter, and Hopkins of the committee. Plus Mayor Smith, Shawn Kennedy, Tim Birk, and Nathan Krebel from the City of Waterloo.

Call to order @ 6:45 pm

1. PETITIONS ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS : NONE

2. Minutes of 7-20-20 Downtown Beautification Committee Meeting Motion Notheisen, Second Darter to approve as submitted. Pass 5-0

3.WELCOME TO WATERLOO SIGNS : Shawn Kennedy made a report of the revised proofs and costs. Revisions include A) a custom arched topper, B) to increase the city logo size, C) to add a second logo to the backside., D) to add the Sister City panel to the bases of the signs, E) increase the base sizes to match the South sign height, and F) add mounting plates to the posts. Discussion of cost estimate. Motion Notheisen, Second Darter, to approve the updated revisions and the cost estimate. (attachment A) Pass 5-0

4. FALL HANGING BASKETS : Nathan Krebel read a proposal from Bountiful Blossoms (attachment B ) for flowers, supplies, and labor on 36 hanging baskets in the downtown area. Total cost of $1,440. Motion Notheisen, second Darter, to accept proposal. Pass 5-0

5.SANTA FLOAT GIS TRACKING SYSTEM PROPOSAL: Discussion of the Santa Float route., and citizens missing the float. Nathan Krebel read a proposal from Horner & Shifrin to address this problem ( attachment C) by using access to the internet. By using this system, future route(s) can be displayed on the City website. Testing Training will be done by Horner -Shifrin for a one-time cost of $3,000. Motion Notheisen, second Darter for purchasing GIS System. Pass 5-0

6. FACADE GRANT APPLICATION : from Joann Meier, 116 W. Mill. DBA “Joann Meier's Ceramic Shop” was DELETED. 

COMMENTS : Mayor Smith announced that Monroe County Dept. of Public Health Director ( John Wagner ) approved request from the Waterloo City Band to perform TUES. Aug. 11th at Gibault High School. Maximum of 75 vehicles. Mayor Smith also stated that the Sophia and Elmer Oerter Charitable Foundation granted some money to the City of Waterloo for charitable organizations. (Attachment D) is the list of recipients. Pass 5-0

Motion by Notheisen, second by Darter, to adjourn. Meeting adjourned @ 7:15 pm
