Waterloo Community Unit School District 5 Board of Education met July 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The meeting was called to order by President John Caupert. The following members were present: Jo Ellen (Jodi) Burton, John Caupert, Lori Dillenberger, Neil Giffhorn, and Gary Most. Kim Ahne and James Yaekel Jr. were absent. The following administration was present: Superintendent Brian Charron; Special Education Coordinator Julie Bender; District Curriculum Coordinator Johnathan Schmieg; Principals: Lori Costello, Nicholas Schwartz, Amber Cruser, Jessica Washausen, Brian Smith, and Mary Gardner.

Motion was made by Most and seconded by Giffhorn that an executive session be called at 5:35 p.m. to discuss the security procedures, school building safety and security, and the use of personnel and equipment to respond to an actual, a threatened, or a reasonably potential danger to the safety of employees, students, staff, the public, or public property [5 ILCS 120/2(c)(8)]. Burton, aye; Giffhorn, aye; Most, aye; Dillenberger, aye; Caupert, aye. Five yeas. No nays. Two absent. Motion passed.

Motion was made by Most and seconded by Giffhorn for the Board to close executive session at 6:59 p.m. Burton, aye; Giffhorn, aye; Most, aye; Dillenberger, aye; Caupert, aye. Five yeas. No nays. Two absent. Motion passed.

Motion was made by Burton and seconded by Giffhorn to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Burton, aye; Giffhorn, aye; Most, aye; Dillenberger, aye; Caupert, aye. Five yeas. No nays. Two absent. Motion passed.
