Waterloo Fire Department responded to 89 calls in 2018 - 16.8 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Waterloo included 36 fires - 10 structure fires, six vehicle fires and 20 other fires.

In all, the department saw $373,300 in fire loss - or about $10,369 per fire.

The department also received 53 false calls, including one malicious call and 52 other false calls.

The Waterloo Fire Department had an annual budget of $1,073,345 in 2018.
