Pinckneyville Community High School District #101 Board of Education met Aug. 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Pinckneyville Community High School District #101, Perry County, Illinois, met in a regular session at 6:30 p.m. at the Pinckneyville Community High School in that district. The following officers and members of the Board were present: Greg Thompson, President, Brian Kellerman, Jeff Suchomski, Jennifer Robb, Lisa Stanton and Greg Bigham. Kyle Pursell was present via telephone. Tony Wilson, Principal, and Keith Hagene, Superintendent, were also present.

It was moved by Jeff Suchomski and seconded by Greg Bigham to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call: Greg Thompson, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

Guests present via Zoom Meeting Access: Sarah Shasteen, Susan Cannon, Zach Lilly, Nicole Krach, Craig Walker, Jamie Wildermuth, Kendra Kelly, Nolan Kellerman, John Craft, Patricia Kremer, Marilyn Smith, Erin Riggins, and Jessica Barnett. Several other people joined the meeting, but did not reveal their names.

Guests were welcomed and invited to address the Board. Erin Riggins spoke concerning flag code as it pertains to clothing and appropriate use, and how it is taught in the social studies curriculum. John Craft thanked the Board for hosting the meeting via Zoom. No other comments were made.

Mr. Hagene discussed facilities maintenance, and the FY21 Tentative Budget.

It was moved by Kyle Pursell and seconded by Brian Kellerman to authorize the tentative budget to be placed on public display at least 30 days prior to formal adoption in September. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

There were no FOIA requests this month.

A first reading of policy updates was conducted.

Discussions were held concerning enrollment updates, and teacher and administration salary reports.

It was moved by Lisa Stanton and seconded by Jennifer Robb to enter closed session at 7:10 pm for the purposes of discussing appointment, employment, compensation and performance of personnel, and collective bargaining matters. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Jennifer Robb and seconded by Kyle Pursell to return to open session at 8:18 pm. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Jeff Suchomski and seconded by Lisa Stanton to employ Martha Numi as Title I Math Aide for Pinckneyville Community High School District #101. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Kyle Pursell and seconded by Lisa Stanton to approve the Assistant Coaching Positions and presents. Boys and Girls Golf - Dan Breslin and Nolan Kellerman: No assistants; Soccer- Head Coach - Jay Ray, Assistant Volunteers- Kent Epplin and Aaron Hawk; Poms - Head Coach Kylee Sizemore- Volunteer- Stacey Sizemore; Football- Head Coach Tod Rushing- Assistants: Rich Williams, Jeff Miller, CJ Opp, Randy Schoonover, - Volunteer Assistants- Michael Porter, Garrett Huggins, Jay Ray; Cross Country- Volunteer Assistant: Hunter Queen; Cheerleading- Volunteer Assistant: Lauren Kania; Volleyball- Head Coach Mike Layne- Assistant: Emily Campbell, Volunteer - Alaina Martin and Chelsea Kellerman; Boys Basketball - Hunter Queen. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Lisa Stanton and seconded by Brian Kellerman to adjourn the meeting at 8:24 pm. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.
