Waterloo Community Unit School District 5 Board of Education met Sept. 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

ROLL CALL

The meeting was called to order by President John Caupert. The following members were present: Kim Ahne, Jo Ellen (Jodi) Burton, John Caupert, Lori Dillenberger, Neil Giffhorn, Gary Most, and James Yaekel Jr. The following administration were present: Superintendent Brian Charron; Special Education Coordinator Julie Bender; District Curriculum Coordinator Johnathan Schmieg; Principals: Lori Costello, Nicholas Schwartz, Amber Cruser, Jessica Washausen, Brian Smith, and Mary Gardner.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Motion was made by Most and seconded by Yaekel Jr. that an executive closed session be called at 7:01 p.m. to discuss the security procedures, school building safety and security, and the use of personnel and equipment to respond to an actual, a threatened, or a reasonably potential danger to the safety of employees, students, staff, the public, or public property. [5 ILCS 120/2(c)(8)] Ahne, aye; Burton, aye; Giffhorn, aye; Most, aye; Yaekel Jr., aye; Dillenberger, aye; and Caupert, aye. Seven yeas. No nays. Motion passed.

Near the end of the executive closed session, Board Member Jo Ellen (Jodi) Burton left the meeting.

CLOSE EXECUTIVE SESSION

Motion was made by Ahne and seconded by Yaekel Jr. for the Board to close the executive session at 10:22 p.m. Ahne, aye; Giffhorn, aye; Most, aye; Yaekel Jr., aye; Dillenberger, aye; and Caupert, aye. Six yeas. No nays. One absent. 

ADJOURNMENT

Motion passed. Motion was made by Giffhorn and seconded by Most to adjourn the meeting at 10:23 p.m. Ahne, aye; Giffhorn, aye; Most, aye; Yaekel Jr., aye; Dillenberger, aye; and Caupert, aye. Six yeas. No nays. One absent. Motion passed.
