WILSON'S FUNERAL HOME - STEELEVILLE: Degen R. Sanders of Percy, Illinois

Wilson's Funeral Home - Steeleville issued the following announcement on Oct 31.

PERCY – Degen R. Sanders, 31, of Percy, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at Sparta Community Hospital.

Degen was born in Carbondale, Illinois, on July 7, 1989, the son of Loren Richard and Ann Degenhardt Sanders. He was a Correctional Officer for Menard Correctional Center, Menard, IL. Degen was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #3960, Steeleville; lifetime NRA member; and Eagle Scout, Troop #348 of Steeleville. Degen enjoyed hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Degen is survived by his parents, Rick and Ann Sanders of Percy; Paternal Grandmother, Mary L. Sanders of Sparta; Maternal Grandfather, Glenwood Degenhardt of Percy; two Paternal Aunts, Karen and Cindy; Maternal Uncle, Glen; Maternal Aunt, Amy; and three cousins, Ashley, Nicole and Sydney.

Degen was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandmother, Allene Degenhart and Paternal Grandfather, Loren “Flee” Sanders.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 1:30 pm, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Steeleville, Illinois, with Reverend Mark Harriss officiating. Burial will follow at the Ebenezer Cemetery in Rockwood. Visitation will be at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Steeleville, from 11:30 am until hour of service. Memorials may be given to the Randolph County Care Center or the Steeleville Scouting Program. To sign the guestbook visit www.wilsonsfuneralhome.net.
