Monroe County Board of County Commissioners Met October 6

Monroe County Board of County Commissioners met Oct. 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Illinois was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Chairman Robert Elmore, Commissioner Vicki Koerber, and Commissioner Knobloch were present.

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll call was taken by County Clerk Jonathan McLean. There being a quorum present, the meeting was called to order by Chairman Elmore.

Chairman Elmore asked for public comment. There were no public comments.

Sheriff Neal Rohlfing and Joe Lewis came before the Board to present the requested budget for animal control, courthouse and jail, and the sheriff’s departments.

State’s Attorney Chris Hitzemann came before the Board to discuss the requested budget for the State’s Attorney office.

Judge Doyle, Courtney Schweickhardt, and Art Morris came before the Board to present the requested budget for the court, probation, and public defender. The group recommended adding $50,000 to the public defender line item due to increase workload.

Lisa Fallon came before the Board to present the requested budget for the Circuit Clerk’s office.

Amy Cope and Alan Mueller came before the Board to present the University of Illinois budget and request an increase to the county tax levy.

Kevin Schiebe came before the Board to present the requested budget for EMA.

Amy Roever came before the Board to present the requested budget for Board of Review. As noted in your request, there is a new line item for appraisals.

Carl Wuertz came before the Board to present the requested budget for the Supervisor of Assessments office.

Aaron Metzger and Chris Howell came before the Board to present the requested budget for Highway and Weed Commissioner.

The requested budget for soil and water was presented to the Board.

Kelton Davis came before the Board to discuss the proposed budget for the Monroe County Regional Superintendent of Schools.

Laura Henry and Chris Voelker came before the Board to discuss the proposed budgets for mapping and platting, GIS, and Zoning.

Bob Hill came before the Board to present the requested budget for the Coroner’s office.

Carl Heise came before the Board to discuss the proposed budget for EMS.

John Wagner came before the Board to review the annual budget of the Health Department and request the same tax levy as the previous year.

Jonathan McLean came before the Board to discuss the proposed budget for the County Clerk’s office, elections, and Recorder of Deeds. Mr. McLean asked for additional appropriation of funds in the document storage fund for salary.

Kevin Koenigstein came before the Board to recommend that the budget for the 708 Mental Health Board be set at $445,000 – the same as the current year. Mr. Koenigstein also recommended that the Board the levy the same amount for General Assistance as in previous years.

Mr. Koenigstein reviewed the budget for planning and development.

County Treasurer Kevin Koenigstein came before the Board to present the annual budget for the treasurer’s office.

There being no further business to come before the Board, Commissioner Koerber made a motion to adjourn. Second by Commissioner Knobloch. All voting aye. None Nay. None Absent. Motion carried.
