Steeleville Community Unit District No. 138 Board of Education met Oct. 19.

1. Rick Smith moved to approve the following consent agenda items as presented by Superintendent, Stephanie Mulholland. Alinda Jeffers seconded the motion.

A. Approve Board Minutes of Regular Meeting

B. Approve Itemized Bills for Current Month

C. Approve Estimated Payroll

A Roll Call vote was taken: Smith – Aye; Jeffers – Aye; Ernsting – Aye; Frederking – Aye; Mevert – Aye; Rice – Absent; Mitchell – Aye.

Motion Carried: 6 – Aye, 0 – Nay, 1 – Absent

No Public Visitors

No Teachers present to give curriculum reports

2. Action Items

A. Alinda Jeffers moved to approve the FY 2019-2020 Audit from Scheffel Boyle. Jim Mevert seconded the motion.

A Roll Call vote was taken: Jeffers – Aye; Mevert – Aye; Ernsting – Aye; Frederking – Aye; Rice – Absent; Smith – Aye; Mitchell – Aye.

Motion Carried: 6 - Aye, 0 – Nay, 1 – Absent

3. Informational Items on the Agenda

A. Budget Summary, Cash Fund Balances, Activity Fund Balances B. Assistant Superintendent’s Report

1. Mrs. Haertling informed the board that there are two full-time remote learners at the High School and quarantined students are allowed to remote into class.

2. Avery Hamilton advanced out of the golf Regional. There was not an opportunity to advance out of the Sectional as no State was held this year. Avery represented the Warriors well.

3. The cross county conference meet was held Saturday, October 17th at Wesclin. The Regional will be held on October 24th in Marissa. The Sectional will be held in Belleville and at this time there was no opportunity for State.

4. Volleyball and Basketball have had 20 contact days. Basketball starts a two-week dead period at the end of the month and can officially start practice.

5. Basketball Season Ticket holders were not mailed letters as there has been no guidance from IHSA regarding fan attendance at games. Mrs. Haertling said everything is a waiting game at this time.

6. Homecoming week will be held October 25th-30th. There will be a daily dress up theme with the week. The High School will have a small parade around the school on Thursday, October 29th. Battle of the Classes will be on Friday, October 30th and the Homecoming Dance will be held that evening from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Coronation will take place at the beginning of the dance. They will only allow family of the attendants to attend as long as they socially distance and wear masks.

7. The Blue and White Game is on hold until further guidance is given from IHSA.

C. Parking Lot Update – Dr. Mulholland reported that she and Earl received the initial blueprints for the parking lot project. Earl requested some changes and Dr. Mulholland will forward the finalized copy to the board when she receives it.

D. End of 1st Quarter- Friday, October 16th, was the end of the 1st Quarter. Dr. Mulholland felt that it has been a pretty smooth start to the school year. The Grade School currently has nine remote learners.

4. Alinda Jeffers moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:18 p.m. Fred Frederking seconded the motion. A voice vote was taken: 6 – Aye, 0 – Nay, 1 – Absent
