City of Red Bud parks and Recreation Committee met Oct. 7.
Here is the minutes provided by the committee:
Members present: Tim Fahey, Jim Birke, Kevin Cartee, Wil Krick, Deb Opel, Alan Piel, and Terri Reed,
Members absent:Matt Mollet, and Winnie Rehmer
Others Present: Recreational Facilities Committee members - Kyle Donjon, Susan Harbaugh, guests Larrisa Wandro and Grayson Wandro
The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Tim Fahey
Minutes from the September meeting were read. Deb made a motion to accept. Wil seconded. Motion carried.
SKATE BOARD PAD
● Kevin stated he had received some ideas from high school students. Gave to Kyle.
● Grayson was there to express his ideas. He would like a half pike. Larissa had ideas from company called Northern Illinois. Kyle will share with Jeremy who will look into the possibilities.
SPLASH PAD
● no news on Splash Pad
POOL
● Received a preliminary bill -about the same cost as last year. Will discuss payment when receive the final bill.
● Josh thinks they may have figured out the problem of sand in pool/pipes, but are still working on it. Committee feels it needs to be done this fall so problem can be fixed.
● Need to get a quote on painting inside of bathhouse.
● Toilets need to be checked for problems and replace parts in order for them to flush correctly.
● Awnings need to be removed
● Brick wall is still in need of repairs. Tim has been trying to contact a local brick company to get an estimate but they do not return his calls. He will continue to try and reach them.
LINCOLN PARK
● Need dusk to dawn lights checked. Some are not working or are not putting out much light.
● Need a light for area around playground equipment.
● Pickle Ball court not in yet. Josh told Kyle that the street oil and chip program is finished so should have time to complete.
RATZ PARK
● Tim thanked all committee members that helped at work day at Ratz Park. Many youth from community showed up to help. Accomplished many projects.
● Susan and Jeremy will be at park on Saturday to work on different items- mostly tackling the brush in Bums Jungle. Asked if anyone could be there to help. Wil responded he should be able to. Tim and Jim will paint gable ends on pavilions later in week.. Deb and Terri will paint the bathrooms.
● Alan will take a overhead picture of park to display on sign at front of park to help with identifying pavilions.
● Kyle has talked to Josh about connecting the walk from Finley Pavilion to the bridge. ●
SPORTS COMPLEX
● Fundraising for the renovations has begun.
NEXT REGULAR MEETING WILL BE NOVEMBER 4th, 6:30 AT CITY HALL
