Waterloo City Council Met Jan. 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smith at 7:30 p.m.

2. The following Aldermen were present: Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Row and Heller.

3. Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Tom Smith. Alderman Heller then asked for a moment of silence in remembrance of Mrs. Pat Smith.

4. Correction or Withdrawal of Agenda Items by Sponsor. None.

5. Approval of Minutes as Written or Amended.

Approval of City Council Meeting Minutes dated 12-21-2020. Motion made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Row to approve the City Council Meeting Minutes from 12-21-20. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

6. Petitions by Citizens on Non-Agenda Items.

Mr. Pete Barnes addressed the council to consider allowing Waterloo to be golf cart friendly. He admitted that there are pros and cons, but believed the pros outweigh the cons.

7. Reports and Communications from the Mayor and other City Officers. 

A. Report of Collector. No report.

B. Report of Treasurer. No report.

C. Report of Subdivision and Zoning Administrator. No report.

D. Report of Director of Public Works.

A truck was out salting the streets on January 1 due to icy weather conditions. E. Report of Chief of Police. No report.

F. Report of City Attorney. No report.

G. Report and Communication by Mayor. No report.

8. Report of Standing Committees. No report.

9. Report of Special Committees. No report.

10. Presentation of Communications, Petitions, Resolutions, Orders and Ordinances by Aldermen. None.

11. Unfinished Business. None.

12. Miscellaneous Business.

A. Consideration and Action on Warrant No. 597.

Motion made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Buettner to approve Warrant No. 597. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

13. Discussion of Matters by Council Members Arising After Agenda Deadline. 

Mayor Smith expressed a heartfelt thank you to the City of Waterloo and to Monroe County for all the support they have shown him, his family and his daughters during this difficult time in their lives.

14. Motion to Adjourn made by Alderman Buettner and seconded by Alderman Heller. Motion passed with unanimous voice vote. Mayor Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:38 p.m.
