State Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) isn't impressed with Gov. JB Pritzker's 'Bridge to Phase 5' plan.
In an interview with Greg Bishop for WMAY, the senator said that Pritzker has once again gone solo in crafting the plan, which has been “his mode of operation throughout this entire pandemic.” She said legislators found out about the plan after the press, which she said is “not acceptable.”
“Unfortunately we still don’t know the data behind this plan and, yet again, the governor refuses to engage the legislature in the process,” Bryant wrote on Facebook. “The governor continues to make extremely important decisions behind closed doors that affect every aspect of Illinoisans’ lives. Enough is enough.”
Bryant urges the governor and most of his agencies to be transparent in the plan because people have the right to know. “So much of the governor’s bridge plan depends on vaccination,” she said.
The governor's 'Bridge to Phase 5' would require 70 percent of the elderly population to get their first-dose vaccination. Currently, all regions are in Phase 4.
Subsequently, transitioning to Phase 5 would need hitting a “50 percent vaccination rate for residents age 16 and above,” and other requirements, according to NBC 5 Chicago.
