Steven D. “George” Betts, 44, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:25 P.M., Monday, May 10, 2021 at the home of his parents, surrounded by his loving family.
Steven was a wonderful father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and a true friend to many. He would go the extra mile to help anyone that was in need. He was a mechanic and owned his own business, Triple S Enterprises, and he also owned his own lawn care business, Betts’ Lawn Care. He love to go camping and spend time with his family and friends.
Steven was born on November 21, 1976 at Kankakee, IL, the son of James and Kathy (Karnes) Betts, who survive.
He was married to Sharon Betts and she survives.
He is also survived by his children - Dominica (Joshua) Hill of Ava, Seth Betts, Landon Betts and Brandon Scarber, all of Du Quoin, one grandchild - Liam Hill of Ava, one brother - Scott (Crystal) Betts of Mt. Vernon, one sister - Sherry (Douglas) Tudor of Du Quoin, one nephew - Brett (Maggi) Tudor of Oakdale, three nieces - Danielle Betts (Michael Guillory) of Sulphur, LA, Brittany Tudor and Kaylyn Betts, both of Du Quoin, several great nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parental grandparents - James and Junetta (Dunmyer) Betts, maternal grandparents - Harold and Ruby (Tate) Karnes, two aunts - Carol Karnes and Sherri Betts, uncle - Phillip Phelps, and two cousins - Amanda (Smith) Viernum and David Phelps.
He was a faithful member of the Lighthouse Church in Royalton, IL.
The family was blessed with a special angel in this last month. April, we want to say thank you for all you have done for the family.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Bro. David Betts and Brother Bon Reynolds officiating.
Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin
Please use social distancing guidelines. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Mulkeytown, IL.
Friends may make memorials to Steven’s children, with donations made to Kathy Betts and will be accepted at the funeral home.
