Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home- Evansille issued the following announcement on June 12.

LARRY'S OBITUARY  

LARRY E. BARKLEY, 84, of Modoc, Illinois, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 at his residence.

He was born to the late Paul and Grace (nee Tasker) Barkley on March 30, 1937 in Douglas, Illinois.

Larry married Audrey Arie on December 10, 1965 in Galesburg, Illinois; she preceded him March 5, 2002.

Larry had been a Special Deputy for Knox County Sheriff’s Department for over 22 years and also had worked as a Laborer. He had been a Major in the Civil Air Patrol and a member of the American Legion Post #622 in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois. Larry served in the United States Navy from 1956-60.

He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, shooting and hunting. Larry also had been on some horseshoe leagues.

Survivors:

   3 Children:

        Dawn (Fred) Alexander Summerville, SC

        Debbie Barkley Macomb, IL

        Richard (Kathy) Barkley Prairie du Rocher, IL

   3 Siblings:

        Phyllis Terwilliger Avon, IL

        Alice Urish Farmington, IL

        Jerry (Janet) Barkley London Mills, IL

   Significant Other:

        Jeanine Behymer Modoc, IL

   6 Grandchildren

   8 Great Grandchildren

   Many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends

Preceded in death by: Parents, Wife and Brother-in-law – Jimmy Terwilliger

It was Larry’s wishes to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made in Larry’s memory to Family Choice and memorials are being accepted at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Red Bud.
