There was a TIF agreement for $500 assistance for the demolition and in return the owners would donate the property to the Du Quoin Community Development Corporation.
Commissioners’ Comments:
Ward: Asked for support for local businesses. The City lost a shoe store and it was sad to lose businesses in town. There are three new eating establishments and asked for support. Congratulated Chris Robinson on becoming a grandfather. Asked the council and community to think about the prayer that starts every meeting and hopes that we all conduct ourselves according to that prayer.
Karnes: Was inspired by Tyler Perry’s remarks at the Academy Awards to get along. Said we should all practice more love on all walks of life. Quit hating and try to get along. We can work on it even now.
Mayor: Announced that he would attend the next council meeting via Webex. Also mentioned that Aaron would be excused as well. Commissioner Kirkpatrick will run the meeting. It will be legal according to Illinois OMA guidelines.
