Brown County Community Unit School District 1 Board Met May 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The special meeting of the Brown County Board of Education was held at 5:30 p.m. in the Brown Count y High School band room and via Zoom video conference. The meeting was called to order by Heath Fullerton. The minutes were recorded by McKenzie Taute.

On roll call: Fullerton, yea; Blaesing, yea; Blakeley, yea; Hughes, yea; Eichelberger, entered meeting at 5:34; Koch, yea; Boylen, entered meeting at 5:51.

In person attendance: Curt Simonson, Pollee Craven, Sally Ruble, Shelly Sheffler, Kris Gallaher, McKenzie Taute, Tracy Conley, Dave Phelps.

In attendance via Zoom: Dan Long, Lan Eberle, John Eichelberger

Motion by Blaesing, seconded by Hughes, to approve Minutes of Previous Meeting(s). Roll Call: Fullerton, yea; Blaesing, yea; Blakeley, yea; Hughes, yea; Eichelberger, absent; Koch, yea; Boylen, absent.

Motion by Koch, seconded by Blakeley, to approve Monthly Bills.

Motion by Blaesing, seconded by Blakeley, to Approve the Resolution Authorizing Abatement of Interfund Loan and Permanent Transfer of Monies from the Tort Immunity Fund to Operations and Maintenance Fund.

Roll Call: Fullerton, yea; Blaesing, yea; Blakeley, yea; Hughes, yea; Eichelberger, absent; Koch, yea; Boylen, absent.

Motion by Koch, seconded by Blaesing, to Approve the Resolution Authorizing Permanent Transfer of Monies from the Operations and Maintenance Fund to the Education Fund. Roll Call: Fullerton, yea; Blaesing, yea; Blakeley, yea; Hughes, yea; Eichelberger, absent; Koch, yea; Boylen, absent.

Dr. Simonson discussed the tentative amended budget in detail. Simonson broke down both projected revenues and expenses for each fund. Simonson explained the need for the two-part interfund transfers was to prevent the district from ending the year with a negative balance in the Education Fund. Simonson also mentioned the transfers and the possibility of the district receiving ESSER funds will allow extra financial security.
