City of Du Quoin City Council Met July 12.

The Minutes of the City Council of the City of Du Quoin, County of Perry held in the Council Chambers of the Du Quoin City Hall.
Invocation:
Reverend James Endsley, First Baptist Church, gave the invocation and Mayor Alongi led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Call to Order:
Mayor Alongi called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. with the following individuals attending: Commissioners Jill Kirkpatrick, Charles Genesio, Michael Ward, and Bob Karnes. City staff present included City Attorney Aaron Atkins, City Clerk Ruth, and City Treasurer Stephanie Cravens.

The Council approved the Open Session Council minutes of the June 28th meeting

Treasurer’s Report
Sara Kary, CPA, of Rice and Sullivan addressed the Council to comment on the 2020 Financial Audit. The Council approved the 2020 Audit.

Ordinances:
A. Ordinance 2021-O05-01: An Ordinance Revising -- Ethics, Gift Ban and Conflict of Interest of the Ordinances of the City of Du Quoin, as Amended – Revise Article V Introduction paragraph 1 line 6 - “may” to “will” and Section 1-4-11 modify file it “with the City Clerk or County Clerk, depending on the nature of the employee’s city position” and replace with “ with the Perry County Clerk as Required by State Statute.”(Final Approval)

Commissioners’ Comments:
Genesio: Prayer for healing for Ron Darnell as he continues to recover.
Ward: Glad to see the Fire Chief back; thank you to the police and fire for all they do. Kirkpatrick: Good to see Chief Durkota back.
Karnes: Seconded above. Pleaded for citizens to check into the facts regarding the vaccination and weigh the decision carefully. If you are fearful, just check into it.
Public Comment:
Mayor Alongi asked if anyone was in attendance that would like to make a comment during the public comment portion at 6:57 p.m. Public comment was closed at 6:57 p.m.
Executive Session:
Pursuant to 5 ILCS 126/2(c)(1) of the Open Meetings Act for the purpose of discussing the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body.
