Pinckneyville School District #50 Board of Education met May 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #50, Perry and Washington Counties, Illinois was held at the Pinckneyville Grade School Building in said district at 6:00 P.M.

The Vice president called the meeting to order and directed the secretary to take roll. The roll was taken and Aaron Johnson, Vice President and the following members were present: Greg Conway, Gideon Hutchcraft, Paul Nehrkorn. Also present were the following people: Scott Wagner, Mark Rohlfing, Tyson Tanner, Shari Kovic, Chris Martin, Sarah Hutchcraft and Nate Fisher

Consent agenda - A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Conway to approve the Consent agenda. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

Visitors and Committees were welcomed.

Freedom of Information Request –No request.

Covid 19 – Informational

Current enrollment – Informational

School Maintenance Grant/ Capital project – Informational

Amend the FY21 budget- A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Hutchcraft to amend the FY21 budget. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

Band Tuition – A motion was made by Hutchcraft and seconded by Nehrkorn to waive beginning band tuition for Non- District 50 students for the 2021-22 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

Detachment/Annexation Hearing – Informational

Egyptian Area Trust – Informational

Title 1 District Committee Meeting – Informational

School lunch prices – A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Hutchcraft to set school lunch prices for 2021-22 school year at K-4 $2.25, 5-8 $2.50. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

FY22 tentative budget – A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Conway to authorize the preparation of the tentative budget for Pinckneyville District #50, Perry and Washington counties. Resolution read No. R-2021-2. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

Executive session - A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Hutchcraft to go into executive session for the purpose of discussing personnel, student suspensions and negotiations. Time 6:29 p.m. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Hutchcraft and seconded by Conway to come out of executive session. Time 7:14 p.m. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

Head cook – A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Hutchcraft to hire Norma Caraker as head cook at Pinckneyville Junior High at 7 hours/ day, $13.54/hour plus benefits for the 2021-2022 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

Reading Specialist/Title 1 teaching position – A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Conway to hire Megan Schneider as Reading Specialist/Title 1 teacher for 2021-2022 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

Fourth Grade Teaching position – A motion was made by Hutchcraft and seconded by Nehrkorn to transfer Heidi Karsten to fourth grade for the 2021-2022 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

Assistant Cook position – A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Hutchcraft to post an assistant cook position at Pinckneyville Junior High at 5.5 hours/ day, minimum wage for the 2021-2022 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Hutchcraft and seconded by Nehrkorn to adjourn the meeting. Roll call vote: Yes- Nehrkorn, Johnson, Conway, Hutchcraft, Marlow. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried. 7:16 pm.
