Waterloo City Council met Dec. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smith at 7:30 p.m.

2. The following Aldermen were present: Notheisen, Matt Buettner, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Kyle Buettner, Row and Heller.

3. Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Tom Smith.

4. Correction or Withdrawal of Agenda Items by Sponsor. None.

5. Approval of Minutes as Written or Amended.

Approval of City Council Meeting Minutes dated 11-15-21. Motion made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Matt Buettner to approve the City Council Meeting Minutes from 11- 15-21. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Kyle Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Matt Buettner, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

6. Petitions by Citizens on Non-Agenda Items. None.

7. Reports and Communications from the Mayor and other City Officers.

A. Report of Collector. No report.

The Moore Street Project (Phases V and VI) has begun.

A. Consideration and Action on Resolution No. 21-27 Approving MFT Funds in the amount of $490,542.52 for the period of May 01, 2022 through April 30, 2023.

Motion made by Alderman Notheisen and seconded by Alderman Row to approve Resolution No. 21-27 Approving MFT Funds in the amount of $490,542.52 for the period of May 01, 2022 through April 30, 2023. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Notheisen, Matt Buettner, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Kyle Buettner, Row and Heller voting ‘yea’.

12. Miscellaneous Business.

A. Consideration and Action on Warrant No. 608.

Motion made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Row to approve Action on Warrant No. 608. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Kyle Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Matt Buettner, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

B. Consideration and Action on Request for a Special Use Permit One-Year Extension for Lot #2 Remlok Professional Park as requested by Allen Brand.

Motion made by Alderman Row and seconded by Alderman Heller to approve the request for a Special Use Permit One-Year Extension for Lot #2 Remlok Professional Park as requested by Allen Brand.

The Zoning Administrator commented that Mr. Brand was granted a special use permit for Lot #2 Remlok Professional Park in 2017. In 2019, an ordinance was passed that limited a special use permit for two years. The Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals gave a favorable recommendation to extend this special use permit for one year. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Row, Heller, Notheisen, Matt Buettner, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter and Kyle Buettner voting ‘yea’.

13. Discussion of Matters by Council Members Arising After Agenda Deadline. Alderman Darter stated that pricing information has been received for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and the City should move forward on obtaining this service to protect itself from ransomware.

Mayor Smith thanked everyone who walked with the Santa Float in the Glow Parade.

14. Motion to Adjourn made by Alderman Kyle Buettner and seconded by Alderman Matt Buettner. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote. Mayor Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:41 p.m.
