Report: Chester School District spent $9,125 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Chester Community Unit School District 139 was up 1.5 percent from five years ago, according to the SW Illinois News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Randolph County school district spent $8,990 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $9,125 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment rose from 944 to 1,013 students over the same period.

Chester's spending in 2019-20 was 37 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
