City of Red Bud Public Health and Safety Committee met Dec. 20.

Others Present: Acting Mayor Susan Harbaugh, City Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Admin. Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Hanebutt called the meeting to order at 6:26 P.M.

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – November 15, 2021 Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt, seconded by Committee Member Nevois, to approve the minutes from the November 15, 2021, meeting. Carried

II. Departmental Activity Report

The monthly department activity report was included in the packets.

III. Authorization to Hire Nicholas Rinehart

Nicholas Rinehart is a part-time officer and already has the physical and psych evaluation.

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt, seconded by Committee Member Donjon, to authorize approval to hire Nicholas Rinehart as full-time police officer at the current rate of pay. Carried

IV. Training Request – Tyler Cleland

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt, seconded by Committee Member Guebert, to authorize approval to send Tyler Cleland to training entitled “3 Day New Detective Training” in Urbana, IL on January 12-14, 2022, with $325 registration fee, lodging and transportation required. Carried

V. Criminal Justice Summit Training Request – John Brittingham Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt, seconded by Committee Member Rheinecker, to authorize approval to send John Brittingham to training entitled “Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Summit” in Effingham, IL on February 23-24, 2022, with $85 registration fee, lodging and transportation required. Carried
