Illinois state Rep. Paul Jacobs (R-Pamona) shared that he has received the endorsement of U.S. Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12th District) in his race for state representative of the 118th District.
Jacobs shared in a Facebook post this week that he had the endorsement form Bost, and he also shared a video message from the U.S. congressman that stated why he was endorsing Jacobs in the race.
“Paul is a conservative, there is no doubt, but yet he's still able to get things done having to work with a Democrat-controlled majority in a very wise way,” Bost said in the video. “You'll never see him vote for a tax increase, and he understands what it's like to sign both sides of the paycheck. That's right: working business, growing business, putting people to work. He's done it in many ways, and he's done a great job for you in Springfield. That's why he's received my endorsement. He's been a longtime friend. He's a friend not only to me, but a friend of all of southern Illinois and a friend to you.”
Jacobs also thanked Boss for the endorsement.
“I am proud to share that I have earned the endorsement of Congressman Mike Bost in the race for 118th district State Representative,” Jacobs said in the Facebook post. “I am grateful to Congressman Bost for his public service as a US Marine, State Representative, and as our Congressman. Thank you for your endorsement, leadership, service, and friendship!”
Bost’s endorsement wasn’t the only nod for Jacobs. A release from the Carbondale Reporter quoted a recent Facebook post that confirmed Jacobs had been endorsed by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Illinois. The report noted that the congressman’s record as a state representative was evidence he supports the state’s builders, contractors and construction workers.
In a separate release from the Reporter, Jacobs recently reflected on the role he has in the General Assembly and the qualities needed to do the job.
“As your State Representative, I have prided myself on being a thoughtful, common sense conservative that you can be proud of,” he told the Reporter. “I think the job requires someone that can exhibit maturity even in the toughest of situations. As you can see, my opponent's campaign has resorted to some rather sophomoric tactics in the last couple of weeks. I'm working hard to earn your vote and your trust based on my solid, reliable, conservative record. Playing silly games won't get the job done.”
