City of Red Bud Parks and Recreation Commission met Oct. 5.
Here are the minutes provided by the commission:
Members present: Tim Fahey, Kyle Herriman, Wil Krick, Ryan Kodela, Deb Opel, and Terri Reed
Members absent: Jim Birke, Bradley Mayberry, and Winnie Rehmer
Others Present: Kyle Donjon, Jeremy DeMond, and Kristine Fulford, Executive Director of YMCA
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Tim Fahey at 6:30 PM at City Hall Minutes from the September meeting were approved as read.
POOL
Kristine Fulford presented a report for the 2022 season. The estimated cost to the City of Red Bud for YMCA to run the pool for 2022 is $28,267.30. She was asked about average daily attendance and was not able to provide. Her suggestions to improve revenue include raising season passes and cost of pool parties and better marketing.
Kristine asked permission to install a YMCA soccer flag at Ratz Park thirty (300 days before the start of soccer season. Deb Opel made a motion to approve displaying the flag before the start of the soccer season. Kyle Herriman seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
RATZ PARK
● Work Day went well. Thanks to the volunteers, much was accomplished. ● Several dead trees still need to be removed. Ryan Kodela made a motion, seconded by Wil Krick to recommend to City Council to hire someone to remove dead trees at Ratz Park. Motion carried unanimously. (was not acted on at city council meeting)
LINCOLN PARK
● Chamber Fest will be held at Lincoln Park, October 21st and 22nd.
● Grills have been ordered and will be installed when delivered.
● Ryan Kodela reported that the muskets field is in good shape. Homecoming is this coming weekend. Bonfire is Thursday evening. Muskets will clean up the park on Sunday.
● Land behind Dollar General is not owned by the city. Will be farmed at this time.
SPORTS PLEX
● Kyle reports that the complex needs new pitching mounds and pitching machines. They decided to hold off building a new batting cage until those projects are completed.
● At some point they want to build a short wall/curb around the batting cages to keep rock out of the cages.
COMMUNITY GARDEN
● a few of the boxes still need to be sealed. Tim will finish off that project.
● new boxes will be added in spring.
OSLAD GRANT
● A resolution was passed by the City Council to hire Farnsworth Group to provide needed architectural and/or engineering services to build the splash pad and other entities for the Grant.
NEXT REGULAR MEETING scheduled for November 2, 6:30 at City Hall
Wil Krick made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Deb Opel seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
