Sparta Community Unit School District #140 Board of Education met Oct. 19.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
The special meeting was called to order at 5:29 p.m. by President Corey Rheinecker and upon the roll being called, Corey Rheinecker and the following members of the Board of Education answered present: Angela Craig, Howard Gallois, Ron Heinen and Kevin Holliday. Absent: Mekalia Cooper and Jennifer Morgan. Others present were: Superintendent Dr. Gabrielle Schwemmer, Recording Secretary Tina Witherby; Principal Scott Beckley; and members of the community.
Howard Gallois moved, Angela Craig seconded to enter into closed session at 5:29 p.m. to discuss items related to student discipline matters and conduct self-evaluation, practices and procedures or professional ethics. Roll call vote. Yeas: Gallois, Craig, Heinen, Holliday and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Howard Gallois moved, Angela Craig seconded to come out of executive session at 5:37 p.m. Roll call vote. Yeas: Gallois, Craig, Heinen, Holliday and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Kevin Holliday moved, Howard Gallois seconded to expel Student #2223-01 for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. The expulsion will be stayed upon successful completion of attendance at Red Brick School. Roll call vote. Yeas: Holliday, Gallois, Craig, Heinen and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Angela Craig moved, Ron Heinen seconded to re-enter into closed session at 5:39 p.m. to conduct self-evaluation, practices and procedures or professional ethics. Roll call vote. Yeas: Craig, Heinen, Gallois, Holliday and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Angela Craig moved, Kevin Holliday seconded to come out of executive session at 7:38 p.m. Roll call vote. Yeas: Craig, Holliday, Gallois, Heinen and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Angela Craig moved, Howard Gallois seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:38 p.m. Roll call vote: Yeas: Craig, Gallois, Heinen, Holliday and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
