State Rep. Dave Severin (R-Benton) shared information about his travels throughout his new district which included several stops to speak with educators at various schools.
Severin, a six-year state representative, has served on the Appropriations, Elementary and Secondary Education, and Appropriations, Higher Education committees.
"Stopped by a few schools in my new district on Thursday," Severin wrote in a Feb. 3 Facebook post. "Talked to a lot of great folks, including Will Knight, Dean of students at Carmi-White County High School, and Assistant Principal Tyler Buss at Mount Carmel Grade School. Lots of great things happening in our local schools. Thank you educators for all that you do!"
In a Feb. 2 news release, Severin shared which committees he'd been chosen to be a part of in the House. He'll serve as minority spokesman for the House Higher Education Appropriations, and Energy and Environment committees. He's also a permanent member of the House Elementary and Secondary Education Appropriations, Mental Health, and Veterans Affairs committees.
In a separate Facebook post, Severin talked about his recent trip to Cafe 82:3 in Mount Carmel where he attended a ribbon-cutting and "made some new friends and tasted some amazing food."
According to a press release issued at the end of last month, Severin announced he filed House Bill 1564. The legislation would repeal the state's new gun control law which restricts magazine size and requires firearms owners to register their guns, including people who prior to the law's passage bought firearms now banned under the public act.
