City of Red Bud Recreational Facilities Committee met Feb. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Kyle Donjon, Bill Hanebutt, Rodney Nevois, Alan Piel, Jeremy DeMond

Committee Members Absent: None

Council Members Present: Ben Schwartzkopf, Curt Guebert, Mike Rheinecker

Others Present: Acting Mayor Susan Harbaugh, City Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Admin. Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Others Absent: Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker

Committee Chairman Donjon called the meeting to order at 7:02 P.M.

Old Business

I. Ratz Park Renovation Projet Update

Code Admin. Mueller said they are waiting on a site plan.

II. Swimming Pool

A. Swim Team – Use of Facilities

Pam Poetker had sent a document with her Friday update, on how the YMCA plans to staff the lifeguards for the coming season. Council Member Schwartzkopf will follow up with Poetker, with any questions.

III. Musket Facilities

A. Additional Lighting for Multipurpose Field

Chairman Donjon said that there is a chance that additional lighting will be donated to the Lincoln Park multipurpose field, so costs of installation will have to be calculated.

B. Building Repairs – Flooring and Windows

Ryan Koudela is working on getting quotes for repairs.

C. Concrete Work

Nate Macarthy, Musket Athletic Director, said the area they want to concrete is the open grassy area behind the clubhouse and bleachers to make it accessible by ambulance. They are also looking at expanding/moving the Memorial. There is sufficient money in the FY’23 budget. Musket volunteers will do the labor.

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member DeMond to approve the authorization to purchase the concrete, NTE $7,500, for the concrete project at the Lincoln Park/Musket Field. Carried

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – January 16, 2023 Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Nevois to approve the minutes from the January 16, 2023, meeting. Carried

II. Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes – Meeting February 1, 2023 February 1, 2023, meeting minutes were included in the packet. Chairman Donjon noted that they are proposing adding to the FY’24 budget, windscreens for the Lincoln Park pickle ball courts. The parks committee is donating their time to get the pool snack stand up to par. There should not be much expense involved.

III. Authorization to Purchase Portable Benches for Ratz Park Soccer Field Poetker is working on this.

IV. Authorization to Purchase Playground Mulch

Council Member Donjon said the parks need mulch for the playgrounds. This must be ADA approved mulch.

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt to approve the authorization to purchase playground mulch from The Davey Tree Expert Company, NTE $1,700, for the parks. Carried

III. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

None
