City of Red Bud Parks and Recreation Commission met March 1

City of Red Bud Parks and Recreation Commission met March 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Members present: Jim Birke, Tim Fahey, Kyle Herriman, Wil Krick, Deb Opel, Terri Reed.

Members absent: Ryan Koudela, Bradley Mayberry, and Winnie Rehmer.

Others Present: Kyle Donjon and Red Bud High School FFA members- Grace Guebert and Evan Mudd

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Tim Fahey at 6:30 PM at City Hall

Minutes from the February 2023 meeting were approved

FFA members Grace, economic development committee and Evan, environmental committee were at the meeting to request the FFA members help with a clean-up day. They had three days available-April 1,8,or 22. possible duties could include planting bushes, plant (which FFA has available for purchase) or trees if we purchase them elsewhere. Suggested Ideas were-planting flowers in Lincoln Park near the tennis court and flag pole, cleaning up on diamond at Lincoln Park, painting where needed, Ratz park triangle flowers. Mulching if we can get mulch delivered. Could have anywhere from 2-75 FFA members to help. Tentatively set date for April 1, rain day is April 22.

Deb reported that the BETA club would also like to help.

POOL

• Concession stand- Park committee will try to fix up- is a solid building. Cleaning, painting, new siding and a new metal roof will help.

LINCOLN PARK

• GAGA pit needs finished

• posts need painted

OSLAD GRANT

• Discussed timeline for project

• Kyle reported that the site survey is complete, but has not heard results

RATZ PARK

• dead branches are being removed from trees

MUSKETS FIELD

• City Council approved concrete pad at Musket field not to exceed $7500

SPORTZ PLEX

• Need rock around the concrete pads next to dugouts 1&2

• Work days in May and June

• batting cage roof needs sealed

OTHER BUSINESS

Pickleball screens approval pending approval and will be installed during next fiscal year.

NEXT REGULAR MEETING scheduled for April 5, 6:30 at City Hall

Jim made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Deb seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
