City of Red Bud Public Health and Safety Committee met March 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Bill Hanebutt, Mike Rheinecker, Curt Guebert, Rodney Nevois, Kyle Donjon

Committee Members Absent: None

Council Members Present: Ben Schwartzkopf, Jeremy DeMond, Alan Piel

Others Present: Acting Mayor Susan Harbaugh, City Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Hanebutt called the meeting to order at 6:56 P.M.

Old Business

I. Quote from Decatur Equipment for New Speed Trailer

Remove from agenda, handled last month.

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – February 20, 2023

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt seconded by Committee Member Nevois, to approve the minutes from the February 20, 2023, meeting. Carried

II. Departmental Activity Report

The February department activity report was included in the packets.

III. Training Request – Nick Rinehart

Chief Brittingham stated that after Officer Rinehart receives this training, he will be able to provide arrest training to the other officers.

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt seconded by Committee Member Nevois, to approve sending Nick Rinehart to training entitled “L.O.C.K.U.P. Police System Arrest and Control Instructor Course” on June 19-23, 2023, in Wellston, MO, with a registration fee of $895. Carried

IV. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

Committee Member Donjon questioned if the other officers will all be trained at the same time, is there overtime involved. Chief Brittingham said they typically try to move things around and may train at more than one time.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:59 P.M.
