City of Red Bud Public Works Committee met May 15.

Others Present: Mayor Susan Harbaugh, City Attorney Rebecca Cooper, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker
Others Absent: City Clerk Joanne Cowell
Committee Chairman Guebert called the meeting to order at 6:42 P.M.
Old Business
I. Power Plant
A. Plant Report
Business as usual. The urge testing will take place in late June.
II. Utilities/Streets
A. Electric
Nothing to report.
B. Gas
Nothing to report.
C. Water – Aerator Replacement Project
There is still no delivery date on the aerator. Once it arrives, there will be thirty days to complete the project.
D. Sewer
Nothing to report.
E. Streets
Street oil & chip has been scheduled for June 14th, with a rain date of June 16th.
New Business
I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting April 17, 2023
Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Schwartzkopf to approve the minutes from the April 17, 2023, meeting. Carried
II. MFT/CD Funds
The MFT funds can be invested; the Rebuild Illinois funds cannot be invested. All of these are restricted funds.
Recommendation made by Committee Member Schwartzkopf, seconded by Committee Chairman Guebert, to invest $1,000,000 MFT funds in two separate six-month CDs of $500,000/each, with the best interest rates, to be presented at the June meeting. Carried
III. Authorization to Replace Flame Ionization Unit for Gas Department Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve authorization to replace the flame ionization unit for the gas department, NTE $8,000. Carried
IV. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City
Council Member Nevois questioned using J&J Septic for the break in the sewer line across from the old Charlie’s Barber Shop. Eckart said that the city’s equipment would not reach down the ten-twelve feet to the line.
Committee Member Donjon questioned the painting of the water tower. Eckart said it has been inspected and is an aesthetic issue right now; it is in the five-year plan. One tower is fully funded, the other is partially funded.
