Pinckneyville School District 50 Board of Education met July 31.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. A special meeting of the Board of Education of School District #50, Perry and Washington Counties, Illinois was held at the Pinckneyville Grade School Building in said district at 6:00 P.M. on July 31, 2023 

2. The President called the meeting to order and directed the secretary to take roll. The roll was taken and Kyle Pursell, President and the following members were present: Austin Marlow, Michael Porter, Justin Martin. Paul Nehrkorn, Gideon Hutchcraft and Aaron Johnson were absent. Also present were the following people: Brian Pasero, Brittany McConachie, Tyson Tanner, Shari Kovic 

3 Consent Agenda - A motion was made by Porter and seconded by Marlow to approve the Consent agenda. Roll call vote: Yes- Pursell, Porter, Marlow, Martin. Yes - 4 No – 0. Motion carried. 

4. Visitors and Committees were welcomed. 

4.1 Public comment- Informational 

5. Old Business 

5.1 Multi-Peril Insurance: Pasero review the bids for the board. Noting Wright's premium is a little less than $400 above ICMRT's, Pasero recommends the Wright Risk Management bid proposal as it offers the ability to use one building as an umbrella limit for the other and covers sexual abuse within the excess package. These were two items ICMRT was not able to match. Additionally, ICMRT was not able to offer the requested $10 million earthquake. A motion was made by Martin and seconded by Porter to approve and accept the Multi-Peril Insurance Bid Proposal from Wright Risk Management (Consolidated Insurance Agency) for the 2023-2024 School Year as Presented. Roll call vote: Yes- Pursell, Porter, Martin; Abstain-Marlow. Yes - 3 No – 0. Motion carried. 

6. Executive Session - A motion was made by Marlow and seconded by Martin to go into Executive Session for the purposes of discussing: 

Roll call vote: Yes- Pursell, Porter, Marlow, Martin. Yes - 4 No-0. Motion carried. 6:14pm. 

5.1 The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the public body (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), as amended by P.A. 93-57) 

Coming out of Executive session: A motion was made by Porter and seconded by Martin to come out of Executive session. Yes-4, No - 0; motion carried. 6:25 pm. 

7. Action Items 

7.1 Paraprofessional: A motion was made by Porter and seconded by Martin to employ Jade Marlott as Elementary Paraprofessional @ $14.00/hour, 5.5 hours/day, not to exceed School District #50 Board of Education Special Meeting July 31, 2023 29.5 hours/week plus retirement benefits for the 2023-2024 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Pursell, Porter, Marlow, Martin. Yes - 4 No-0. Motion carried. 

8. Adjournment: A motion was made by Marlow and seconded by Porter to adjourn the meeting. Roll call vote: Roll call vote: Yes- Pursell, Porter, Marlow, Martin. Yes - 4 No - 0. Motion carried. 6:21 pm.
