Chester Community Unit School District 139 Board of Education met Aug. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Chester Community Unit School District No. 139 held a Special Meeting on August 7, 2023, in High School FACS Classroom B217. President Debi Caraway called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m.

Belton motioned, Malley seconded to enter into executive session at 7:06 p.m. for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the public. Also for the placement of individual students in special education programs and other matters relating to individual students. Roll call vote. Ayes: Belton, Caraway, Coffey, Fricke, Krieg, Malley. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Barney Mundorf, Caleb Mundorf and Mitchel Melion were present in the executive session. Board member Matt Davitz entered into executive session at 7:09 p.m.

Belton motioned, Malley seconded to return to open session at 8:54 p.m. Roll call vote. Ayes: Belton, Caraway, Coffey, Davitz, Fricke, Krieg, Malley. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Fricke motioned, Davitz seconded to approve the consent agenda and items as listed. Roll call vote. Ayes: Davitz, Fricke, Belton, Coffey, Krieg, Malley, Caraway. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Belton motioned, Malley seconded to approve to employ Luke Lochhead as 7th/8th Grade Junior High Language Arts Teacher effective August 14, 2023 pending paperwork. Ayes: Belton, Caraway, Coffey, Davitz, Fricke, Krieg, Malley. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Fricke motioned, Coffey seconded to approve to employ Meagan Roach as Spanish Interpreter effective August 14, 2023 pending successful EHR and background check results. Ayes: Belton, Caraway, Coffey, Davitz, Fricke, Krieg, Malley. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Fricke motioned, Belton seconded to approve to employ Billy Rose as Grade School Traffic Marshall/High School Cafeteria Personnel for 7 ½ hrs/day at $14.10/hr effective August 14, 2023 pending successful background check results. Ayes: Belton, Caraway, Coffey, Davitz, Fricke, Krieg, Malley. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Fricke motioned, Belton seconded to approve to employ Jada Berry as Grade School Paraprofessional/Jacket Care childcare worker for 8hrs/day at $14.10/hr effective August 14, 2023 pending successful EHR and background check results. Ayes: Belton, Caraway, Coffey, Davitz, Fricke, Krieg, Malley. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Fricke motioned, Davitz seconded to approve to employ Summer Valleroy as a Jacket Care childcare worker at $14.10/hr effective August 21, 2023 pending successful background check results. Ayes: Belton, Caraway, Coffey, Davitz, Fricke, Krieg, Malley. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Fricke motioned, Krieg seconded to approve to employ Trinity Jones as a Jacket Care childcare worker at $14.10/hr effective August 21, 2023 pending successful background check results. Ayes: Belton, Caraway, Coffey, Davitz, Fricke, Krieg, Malley. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Malley motioned, Belton seconded to approve to employ Amanda Kennon as a Jacket Care childcare worker at $14.10/hr effective August 21, 2023 pending successful EHR and background check results. Ayes: Belton, Caraway, Coffey, Davitz, Fricke, Krieg, Malley. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Davitz motioned, Belton seconded to approve to employ Peyton Cole as a Jacket Care childcare worker at $14.10/hr effective August 21, 2023 pending successful background check results. Ayes: Belton, Caraway, Coffey, Davitz, Fricke, Krieg, Malley. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Belton motioned, Malley seconded to accept Priscilla Martinez as Grade School Cross Country Volunteer for the 2023–24 season. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.

Malley motioned, Coffey seconded to accept the resignation of Rebecca Clendenin as Grade School Paraprofessional effective July 25, 2023. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.

Fricke motioned, Coffey seconded to accept the resignation of Laura Bogard as Grade School Paraprofessional effective July 26, 2023. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.

Malley motioned, Krieg seconded to accept the resignation of Nicole Wingerter as Grade School Special Education Teacher effective immediately. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.

Belton motioned, Davitz seconded to accept the resignation of Jennifer Cole as Executive Assistant/BOE Secretary effective August 25, 2023. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.

Malley motioned, Belton seconded to accept the resignation of Maggie Clendenin from Jacket Care effective July 26, 2023. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.

Fricke motioned, Belton seconded to accept the resignation of Matthew Renfroe from Jacket Care effective July 26, 2023. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.

Fricke motioned, Krieg seconded to accept the resignation of Aubrie Medford from Jacket Care effective July 26, 2023. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.

Belton motioned, Fricke seconded to accept the resignation of McKenna LaChance from Jacket Care effective July 26, 2023. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.

Davitz motioned, Belton seconded to accept the resignation of Brenda Dressel as Grade School Softball Coach effective July 27, 2023. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.

Davitz motioned, Malley seconded to accept the resignation of Jeri Siegfried as Grade School Softball Volunteer effective July 27, 2023. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Krieg and seconded by Malley to adjourn the meeting at 9:15 p.m. Upon roll call, all members voted aye. Motion carried.
