City of Red Bud Public Works Committee met Aug. 21.

Committee Chairman Guebert called the meeting to order at 6:23 P.M.
Old Business
I. Power Plant
A. Plant Report
Business as usual; there are no scheduled generating runs during the summer peak season. They will start up again in September.
II. Utilities/Streets
A. Electric

B. Gas
Nothing to Report
C. Water – Aerator Replacement Project
Eckart is working with the contractor to schedule the work to make sure the bypass is going, and the water plant operation is maintained during construction.
D. Sewer
Nothing to report.
E. Streets
Nothing to report.
New Business
I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting July 24, 2023
Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve the minutes from the July 24, 2023, meeting. Motion Carried
II. Proposal from Layne Christensen Company – Chemical Treatment of Well #1
Recommendation made by Council Member Guebert, seconded by Council Member Schwartzkopf, to accept the proposal from Lane Christensen Company, estimated at $25,810.00, for chemical treatment of well #1. Motion carried.
III. Proposal from Korte & Luitjohan Contractors – Filter Media Replacement
Recommendation made by Council Member Guebert, seconded by Council Member Hanebutt to accept the proposal from Korte & Luitjohan Contractors, to reinstall the filter media replacement, NTE $48,000. Motion carried.
IV. Water/Sewer Technician Position – Authorization to Hire
Recommendation made by Council Member Guebert, seconded by Council Member Hanebutt, to move Derek Allen into the position of Water/Sewer Technician at an hourly rate of $24.28. After a six-month probationary period, a step increase of $2.50/hour and after twelve months a $2.50/hour increase. Motion carried.
V. Electric Utility Rates
Eckart is starting to review, in conjunction with IMEA, the electric rate structure for solar customers.
VI. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City
Council Member Nevois suggested that the decorative lamp posts downtown need painting, replacing or powder coating. Superintendent Eckart will get more information on this.
