City of Red Bud Parks and Recreation Commission met Sept. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Members present: Tim Fahey, Kyle Herriman, Ryan Koudela, Wil Krick, Brad Mayberry, Deb Opel, and Terri Reed.

Members absent: Jim Birke and Winnie Rehmer.

Others Present: Alderman Kyle Donjon, Mayor Susan Harbaugh, Will Harbaugh

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Tim Fahey at 6:30 PM at Lincoln Park, Pavilion 2

Before the formal meeting began a picture was taken of members, Alderman Donjon, and Mayor Harbaugh in front of the 2.698 acres donated by Scott Hubbard on behalf of Hubbard Enterprises LLC. The land lies behind the Dollar General on West Market Street and abuts Lincoln Park.

Minutes from the August 2023 meeting were approved as read.

OSLAD GRANT

• Advertisement for Bid Proposals for City Park Renovation and Splash Pad at Ratz Park have gone out.

• Grant Proposal Bids will be opened October 4, 11:00 AM, at 525 Power Street, Red Bud. Terri plans on attending.

POOL

• No final report is available for YMCA at this time.

LINCOLN PARK

• Thank you to Brad Mayberry and Tim Fahey for helping to install pickleball wind screens.

• Screens do make a difference in play.

• Trees will be planted by Davey Trees this fall or winter. Trees needing trimmed or taken out will be completed.

• Shed near Pavilion 2 will be removed. Pipes need to be capped.

RATZ PARK

• Bathrooms will be painted soon. They will need to be locked for a couple days for drying.

• Tree near the Fort needs to be removed

MUSKETS FIELD

• Ryan Koudela reported Porta Potties have been ordered. Will be open at all times

• Work day is scheduled for clean up

• Games will be held on Sundays.

• Will finish pouring concrete pads when there are no games scheduled.

• Homecoming is November 7 & 8. Saturday evening Chili will be served and One Man Band will be playing. Sunday afternoon Chicken Soup will be served.

• Ryan reported the broken window in the announcer's booth and waiting for a quote from Freeburg Glass.

SPORTSPLEX

• Kyle reported that Astroturf has been purchased for batting cage

• Roof will be sealed this weekend

• Area has been vandalized. Wooden bleacher seats were damaged by a claw hammer, tables were destroyed, bathroom doors were broken apart, improper use of sink in women’s bathroom.

• There is storm damage to the batting cage.

• They are getting quotes for cameras. Also considering motion sensor lights.

• Kyle Donjon suggested we budget for cameras for Sports Complex and Lion’s Park.

COMMUNITY GARDEN

• no report

OTHER BUSINESS

• Trash cans and BBQ pits have been delivered.

• Work Day for Parks is scheduled for Saturday, October 14. Will decide what needs to be completed at our October meeting.

• Addressed attendance issues.

NEXT REGULAR MEETING October 4, 6:30 at City Hall.

Wil made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Deb seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
