CALL TO ORDER
On October 10, 2023, at 6:03 p.m. President Hoover called to order the regular meeting of the Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education.
Roll Call
Members Present: Adina Hoover, Kevin Marren, Leah Conover, Carlos Hevia
Angela Steketee arrived at 6:52 p.m.
Members absent: Whitney Rogers, and Jessica Radogno
Also present: Superintendent Jack Baldermann, Business Manager, Anthony Ruelli, the Superintendent’s Administrative Assistant, Shannon Cossairt.
Pledge of Allegiance
Adina Hoover led the Assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.
CLOSED SESSION
Motion by Ms. Conover, second by Mr. Marren, to enter closed session to discuss personnel issues and student discipline.

Nays: None.

The Board entered closed session at 6:02 p.m.
The Board returned to open session at 6:31 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES September 26, 2023
Motion by Ms. Conover, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the minutes of the September 26, 2023, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented.

INFORMATION and DISCUSSION
Review of Monthly Financials-September 2023 Anthony Ruelli, CSBO, gave an update to the Board on the September financials. Mr. Ruelli reviewed the revenue and expenditures through September. Documents available in BoardDocs for public view.
The Board skipped ahead to the Superintendent’s report and then returned to the other discussion items later in the meeting.
SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT
Communication Mr. Baldermann shared parent-teacher conferences will be held in person on October 26, 2023, and be virtual on October 27, 2023.
Parents can always reach out to their child’s teacher if they have any questions or concerns.
Graduation dates have been changed. WHS will have their graduation ceremony on May 22, 2024, and WJHS will have theirs on May 23, 2024.
The schools have been working on their action plans. Information will be presented at the October 24, 2023 meeting.

WHS Athletic Conference for all Activities
Dr. Kevin Weck, Principal, Westmont High School, gave the Board an update on the athletic conference. He would like to recommend WHS join the Chicago Prep Conference for the 24-25 school year since the Metro Suburban Conference will be dissolving. Dr. Weck has included a letter in Board Docs regarding the change.
WHS Athletic Conference Football
Dr. Kevin Weck, Principal, Westmont High School, gave the Board an update on the football conference. He would like to recommend WHS withdraw from the Chicagoland Prairie Football Conference and become an independent in the 24-25 school year. He has included a letter in BoardDocs regarding the change.
Ang Steketee entered the meeting at 6:58 p.m.
ACTION ITEM
Authorization for Submission of the State of Illinois FY 2024 School Maintenance Grant
Motion by Mr. Hevia, second by Ms. Conover, to approve the authorization for the submission of the State of Illinois FY24 School Maintenance Project Grant Application, as presented.

Approval for WHS to Withdraw from Chicagoland Prairie Football Conference
Motion by Ms. Conover, second by Mr. Marren, to approve Westmont High School Football to withdraw from the Chicagoland Prairie Football Conference, effective at the completion of the 2023-2024 season.
Ayes: Hevia, Steketee, Hoover, Marren, Conover
Nays: None.

Approval for WHS to Become Independent
Motion by Ms. Conover, second by Mr. Hevia, to approve Westmont High School Football to become independent, effective the 2024-2025 school year.

Approval for WHS to Withdraw from Metro Suburban Conference
Motion by Ms. Steketee, second by Mr. Marren, to approve Westmont High School Athletics to withdraw from Metro Suburban Conference, effective at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year.
Ayes: Hevia, Steketee, Hoover, Marren, Conover
Nays: None.

Approval for WHS Athletics to Join the Chicago Prep Conference for the 2024-2025 School Year
Motion by Ms. Conover, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the Westmont High School Athletics, excluding football, to join the Chicago Prep Conference, effective the 2024-2025 school year.
Ayes: Hoover, Marren, Conover, Hevia, Steketee
Nays: None.

Approval of New AP Course Proposal WHS
Motion by Ms. Steketee, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the new course AP Computer Science Principles to be offered at Westmont High School in the 2024-2025 school year, as presented.
