City of Red Bud Public Works Committee met Oct. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Curt Guebert, Mike Rheinecker, Bill Hanebutt, Ben Schwartzkopf, Kyle Donjon (6:15)

Committee Members Absent: None

Council Members Present: Jeremy DeMond, Rodney Nevois, Alan Piel

Others Present: City Attorney Rebecca Cooper, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Admin./City Engineer Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Others Absent: Mayor Susan Harbaugh, Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker (6:15)

Committee Chairman Guebert called the meeting to order at 6:15 P.M.

Old Business

I. Power Plant

A. Plant Report

Business as usual; normal generation runs as per the schedule

II. Utilities/Streets

A. Electric

Nothing to Report

B. Gas

Nothing to Report

C. Water – Aerator Replacement Project

Working with Haier Plumbing, looks like they will be in next week. Also working with Layne Christenson on the water well cleaning project, which may also be next week.

D. Sewer

Continuing to work with Korte on the filter media replacement, waiting on materials.

E. Streets

The truck bid opening is scheduled for October 30th at 10:00 A.M.

Haier Plumbing is work on the hydrant on North Main. It needs a new valve cut in.

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting September 18, 2023

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Rheinecker, to approve the minutes from the September 18, 2023, meeting. Motion Carried

II. Laborer Position – Recommendation to Hire Candidate

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to hire Danny Moll as laborer, at $21.14/ hour and after six months move to full laborer pay, pending physical and drug test results. Motion carried.

III. Utility Tap Fee Recommendations

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Rheinecker to approve the tap fee updates as presented and to have Attorney Cooper prepare an ordinance for consideration. Motion carried.

IV. Sewer Adjustment Request – 115 W. Market St. (Dieterich Bank)

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve a sewer adjust of $181.53 to Dieterich Bank at 115 W. Market St. for a sprinkler system leak, which did not enter the sewer system. Motion carried.

V. Sewer Adjustment Request – 220 Grant St.

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Donjon, to approve a sewer adjust of $125.76 to Alan Ohms at 220 Grant St. for a leak, which did not enter the sewer system. Motion carried.

VI. Lead & Copper $5.00 Sampling Coupons (40 Total)

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve issuing a $5.00 coupon for those 40 customers participating in the lead and copper sampling. Motion carried

VII. Gas Purchasing Hedge Request – November 2023 – March 2024

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Rheinecker, to accept the Gas Purchasing Hedging proposal to lock in gas pricing, ($3.84) for November 2023 – March 2024. Motion carried

VIII. Fieldstone Subdivision Phase II Improvements – Ordinance No. 1527

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to accept Ordinance No. 1527: “AN ORDINANCE FOR APPROVAL OF THE PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS FOR FIELDSTONE PHASE II SUBDIVISION IN THE CITY OF RED BUD, ILLINOIS.” Motion carried

IX. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

None
