City of Red Bud Public Works Committee met Dec. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Curt Guebert, Mike Rheinecker, Bill Hanebutt, Kyle Donjon, Ben Schwartzkopf

Committee Members Absent: None

Council Members Present: Jeremy DeMond, Rodney Nevois, Alan Piel Council Members Absent: None

Others Present: Mayor Susan Harbaugh, City Attorney Rebecca Cooper, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker

Others Absent: Code Admin./City Engineer Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Guebert called the meeting to order at 6:34 P.M.

Old Business

I. Power Plant

A. Plant Report

Normal generation runs are as per the schedule. The schedule for 2024 runs has also been set.

II. Utilities/Streets

A. Electric

Nothing to Report

B. Gas

Nothing to Report

C. Water – Aerator Replacement Project

The aerator project is nearing its end. There is a small section of insulation to complete. Eckart will work with Poetker to complete the closing paperwork.

D. Sewer

It may be possible to eliminate the rise section previously approved with the Taylor Street lift station upgrade, which eliminates the need for three workers needed for repairs. An EPA construction permit is also required.

E. Streets

Nothing to Report

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting November 20, 2023

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve the minutes from the November 20, 2023, meeting. Motion Carried

II. Utility Gas Management Invoice

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Donjon, to authorize approval for payment of the Utility Gas Management invoice, NTE $70,079.33. Motion carried.

III. Training Request for Adren Walsh, Scott Becker, Hunter Bauer & Danny Moll – Pesticide Training & Testing

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt to approve sending Adren Walsh, Scott Becker, Hunter Bauer, and Danny Moll to training entitled “Pesticide Training & Testing” on March 20-21, 2024, at Collinsville, IL. There will be a cost for books and testing. Motion carried.

IV. 2024 MFT Resolution No. 23-003

This is an update from the approval last month, increasing the amount from $250,000 to $300,000, using the Rebuild Illinois funds.

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Rheinecker, to approve the signatures for the Resolution No. 23-003 with IDOT for Maintenance Under the Illinois Highway Code, to spend the Rebuild Illinois Funds in the amount of $300,000. Motion carried.

V. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

None
