City of Red Bud Public Health and Safety Committee met Jan. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Bill Hanebutt, Rodney Nevois, Kyle Donjon, Curt  Guebert, Mike Rheinecker 

Committee Members Absent: None 

Council Members Present: Ben Schwartzkopf, Jeremy DeMond, Alan Piel Council 

Members Absent: None 

Others Present: Mayor Susan Harbaugh, City Attorney Rick Cooper,  City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Admin./City Engineer Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham,  City Clerk Joanne Cowell 

Others Absent: Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker 

Committee Chairman Hanebutt called the meeting to order at 6:07 P.M.  

Old Business 

None 

New Business 

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – December 18, 2023 Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt, seconded by Committee  Member Nevois to approve the minutes from the Monday, December 18, 2023, meeting.  Motion Carried. 

II. Departmental Activity Report 

The monthly department activity report was included in the packets. 

III. Red Bud Fire Department – MABAS Ordinance No. 1534 

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt, seconded by Committee  Member Donjon to approve ORDINANCE NO. 1534, “AN ORDINANCE  AUTHORIZING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT FOR PARTICIPATION  IN THE MUTUAL AID BOX ALARM SYSTEM.” Motion Carried. 

IV. Tow Rotation Request from M&C Towing and Auto Repairs M&C Towing has moved its business to the old Schleifer’s building and would like  to be part of the towing rotation. Code Adm. Jeff Mueller has addressed the issue of  inoperable vehicles with the owner, Justin Grider, and he said that he will keep it to a  maximum of two vehicles and any overflow can be put behind the building. 

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt, seconded by Committee  Member Nevois to approve the request from M&C Towing to be added to the towing  rotation. Motion Carried.

V. Training Request- John Brittingham and Tyler Cleland ILEAS Conference Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt, seconded by Committee  Member Donjon to approve the request to send John Brittingham and Tyler Cleland to  training entitled “2024 ILEAS Annual Conference” March 24–27, 2024 in Champaign,  IL. Registration fee of $350/total, transportation, food, and lodging are required. Motion  Carried. 

VI. Authorization to Advertise to Hire for Part-Time/Full-Time Officer Chief Brittingham is currently three part-time officers short and one full-time officer  is planning to retire. 

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Hanebutt, seconded by Committee  Member Donjon to approve the request to advertise for the hiring of part-time and full time officer positions. Motion Carried. 

VII. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City 

None
