State Representative David Friess took to the house floor today, accompanied by his daughter, to address his proposed bill, HB 1562. In his statement, Rep. Friess emphasized the importance of maintaining interscholastic sports teams categorized by biological sex to uphold fairness and integrity in athletics.

"I am proud to be the chief sponsor of HB 1562. I put forth this bill to promote fairness and integrity in interscholastic athletics. By categorizing athletic teams by biological sex, we recognize the physiological differences that exist between male and female athletes," stated Rep. Friess.

Acknowledging the inherent advantages male athletes possess, Rep. Friess highlighted the necessity of excluding biological boys from girls' sports. He emphasized, "It’s a biological fact that male athletes have significant advantages in many areas, and we need to keep biological boys out of our girls’ sports."

Furthermore, Rep. Friess underscored that HB 1562 reinforces the significance of biological sex in sports, aiming to foster transparency and fairness among student athletes. He concluded his statement by appealing for support for the bill to ensure all students have the opportunity to excel and compete on an equitable playing field.

In his closing remarks, Rep. Friess reiterated, "HB 1562 reaffirms the importance of biological sex in sports and promoting transparency and fairness. I ask for your support with this bill so that we can ensure that all student athletes have the opportunity to excel and compete on a level playing field. Thank you."
