Red Bud, IL – Representative Friess has demonstrated support for law enforcement and the safety of the communities he serves through his sponsorship and co-sponsorship of crucial legislative initiatives aimed at empowering law enforcement.

"Ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities is paramount," said Rep. Friess. "Through these legislative initiatives, we aim to empower law enforcement personnel, support retired police dogs, and strengthen the infrastructure and resources available to our state police."

Rep. Friess emphasized the importance of these initiatives in building safer neighborhoods and upholding principles of justice and security for all residents of Illinois. One of the key initiatives sponsored by Rep. Friess is HB3354, which focuses on empowering sheriffs in disaster management and civil disorder situations. The proposed amendments would give sheriffs the authority to authorize plainclothes for auxiliary deputies and allow them to carry firearms while performing their assigned tasks for personal safety during critical moments.

Additionally, Rep. Friess has shown support by co-sponsoring HB3588, the Care for Retired Police Dogs Program Act, which aims to ensure the welfare of retired police dogs by providing a Care program within the Illinois State Police for veterinary care funding.

In further support of law enforcement, Rep. Friess co-sponsored HB4048, the Returning Police Officers Loan Repayment Assistance Program, to assist former officers with loan repayment and facilitate their placement in underserved areas, thereby enhancing community safety.

Furthermore, Rep. Friess co-sponsored HB2722, which provides additional funding and resources for the Illinois State Police by amending the State Property Control Act and the Illinois Vehicle Code, enhancing the operational capabilities and effectiveness of state police in ensuring public safety on Illinois roadways.
